What is the difference between the transmit power of handheld radio and base radio? Sep 24, 2022

The wattage of walkie-talkie refers to the transmit power, and the unit of measurement is watts. The stronger the signal transmit , the further the call distance.

The following is the difference between the transmission power of the handheld radio and the base radio.

1.handheld walkie-talkie

7W transmit power: 2-4 kilometers in urban areas, 4-7 kilometers in open spaces;

5W/4W transmit power: 1-3 kilometers in urban areas, 3-5 kilometers in open spaces;

3W/2W transmit power: 500 meters-2 kilometers in urban areas, 1-3 kilometers in open spaces;

1W/0.5W transmit power: 200m-800m in urban area/500m-1.5km in open space.

2.base radio

50W/40W transmit power: 5-15 kilometers in urban areas, 10-25 kilometers in open spaces;

25W/20W transmit power: 3-10 kilometers in urban areas, 5-15 kilometers in open spaces;

10W/5W transmit power: 1-5 kilometers in urban areas, 3-8 kilometers in open spaces;

Because radio relies on electromagnetic waves to transmit signals, there are many factors that can affect the long-distance transmission of wireless signals. Among them, the internal influencing factors include the transmission power, receiving sensitivity, antenna gain and height of the device, and the external influencing factors include the use environment, air interference radio waves and many more.
